THE DELF IS THE FRENCH LANGUAGE STUDIES DIPLOMA

The DELF is the French language studies diploma. It is an official diploma issued by the French Ministry of National Education.

There are 4 diplomas corresponding to the first 4 levels described by the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)

DELF A1, DELF A2, DELF B1, DELF B2

DELF CERTIFICATES Duration Approximately 20 minutes Reading Comprehension questionnaires dealing with four or five written documents on everyday life. 30 minutes Writing Two-part test:

  • Filling in a record, a form.
  • Writing simple phrases (postcards, messages, stories, etc.) on everyday topics.
SPEAKING THREE-PART TEST

  • Guided conversation.
  • Exchanging information.
  • Role-play 30 minutes 5 to 7 minutes of preparation.

It is the French Language Proficiency Test for international students to pursue further studies as well as immigration purposes.

It increases the chances of getting a visa in Quebec-Canada, France and many other Francophone countries.

EXAM STRUCTURE

The test – TCF is broadly divided into Compulsory Tests and Optional Tests. The Compulsory Tests are further divided into three sub-sections which have a total of 78 questions and stretch for roughly an hour and a half.

It is awarded by the CCIP (Chambre de commerce et d’industrie de Paris) – The Paris Chamber of Commerce. It is often required to be admitted into Universities and is recognized by the Federal government of Canada as proof of fluency in immigration procedures, and increases the chances of getting a visa in Quebec-Canada, France and many other countries.
